Southwestern Colorado is filled with ghostly presences.

That’s the conclusion reached in Wild West Ghosts, a new book by Gunnison, Colorado authors Mark Todd and Kym O’Connell-Todd.

The husband-and-wife writing team visited fourteen hotels and B&Bs in the southwestern part of the state to research stories of paranormal activity in each of the facilities.

The sub-title of the book is: “An amateur ghost hunting guide for Haunted Hotels in southwest Colorado.”

Relying on phone apps, an audio recorder, a “spirit box,” cameras and additional “ghost hunting” equipment they were able to substantiate stories and rumors about spectral visitors in every establishment.

In addition to recounting the history of each hotel or B&B, they write about how they went about attempting to establish contact with individuals of the past. These include former hotel owners, prostitutes, lodgers (some of whom committed suicide in the establishment) and others. Each community’s interesting history and its current special events are also listed, along with contact information for the hotel or B&B and the community itself.

Praise for Wild West Ghosts

Mark and Kym have done a fantastic job illuminating some of the curious corners of our world so that all of us may see them. This book is a wonderful addition to any library but keep it in your travel-bag, not on the shelf.
